The State Level Technical Committee meeting was held in Van Bhawan Forest Complex under the chairmanship of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Suresh Chugh today.
The Committee approved the leftover works programme of Phase-1 CAT Baglihar for the financial year 2018-19 for an amount of Rs. 5.88 crore for taking up the critical areas in the rim reservoirs catchment of BHEP.
The catchment of Baglihar HEP is being treated since 2004-05 and works are being undertaken by Soil and Water Conservation wing of Forest Department.
A detailed presentation was made by Pawan K. Kudyar, Joint Director (Central) giving details of the works like Vegetative Measures viz. planting of grass, shrubs, small plants, Gabion Cross Barriers, Gabion Retaining Walls, Gabion Retards etc.
The area is being treated on scientific lines for which a detailed project report was formulated by IIS&WC Dehradun in consultation with BHEP and Project Officer, CAT Baglihar of Soil and Water Conservation Department.
Among others, the meeting was attended by P.K. Singh, PCCF/Director Soil & Water Conservation Department, Member Secretary of SLTC, Arun Kumar Raina, Chief Engineer Civil JKSPDC, Sameer Bharti, Chief Conservator Forests Jammu, N.A. Kakroo, General Manager Technical JKSPDC, Raj Kumar Samyal, Exen HRT Division JKSPDC, SS Sharma, Joint Director Fisheries Department, S.K. Bhat, Divisional Forest Officer (HQ) Environment Ecology Department, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sahaf Project Officer CAT Baghilar Soil and Water Conservation Department.
