In another major crack down against terror a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) neutralized six militants in South Kashmir.
Security forces on a tip-off about the presence of a group of militants in Batagund area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday launched a CASO in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Security forces were fired upon during operation leading to a fierce gun battle and consquent gunning down of six hard core militants hiding in the area.
Police sources confirmed gunning down of militants in this operation and claim four bodies have been recovered and search for other two bodies is on. The identity of militants killed in encounter is yet to be ascertained, however Police claims these militants belonged to LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen terror groups.
“The operation against militants in valley is in full swing and security forces are geared up to meet any eventuality” said the police sources.
