Electioneering by top leaders of various political parties has gained further momentum in Telangana and Rajasthan with hardly ten days left for the polling. For 119 assembly constituencies of Telangana and 200 of Rajasthan, single phase polling will be held on 7th of next month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing two election rallies at Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar in Telangana today. BJP is contesting on 118 seats, as nomination papers of its candidate at Jadcherla in Mahabubnagar district were rejected.
A total of 1821 candidates are contesting the Assembly elections in Telangana. The national and regional recognized parties have fielded total 515 candidates. Besides, 1306 candidates from other, unrecognized parties and Independents are also in the fray.
The TRS fielded its candidates from all 119 constituencies, while Congress fielded 99 candidates, TDP-13 and CPI from 3 seats. CPIM fielded its candidates from 26 constituencies and AIMIM is contesting from 8 constituencies while BSP fielded from 07.
Meanwhile, the People’s Alliance comprising the Congress, TDP, Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI released its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) in Hyderabad last evening. The alliance has promised to provide one lakh jobs within one year of the front forming the government and a crop loan waiver of up to 2 lakh rupees in one go besides interest-free loans for farmers.
The CMP Implementation Committee Convener Prof Kodandaram and leaders of all alliance partners said the 8-page document is considered to be the policy framework to guide the coalition government in Telangana on the lines of the CMP of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the centre.
In Rajasthan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be addressing a public rally in Jaipur today. BJP President Amit Shah will address rallies at Jalore, Sirohi, Pali, Udaipur in Rajasthan.
The top leadership of different parties including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited various places for campaigning yesterday.
