Over 40 Indian origin students from eight countries met Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi today as part of the Know India Programme.
Speaking to media persons, Mr Rijiju said, the Indian diaspora plays a very crucial and supportive role in the country’s economic growth.
He said, they are also an important component of India’s projection as a global power.
Our correspondent reports, Know India Programme provides an opportunity to the diaspora to get motivated and inspired by transformational changes taking place in India.
It also gives them exposure to various aspects of contemporary India’s art, heritage and culture.
The 25-day orientation programme is being organised by the External Affairs Ministry in partnership with government of Andhra Pradesh.
