Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) has hailed and thanked Director General , Tourism & Archaeology POK concurring the demand of preserving sanctity of Sharda Peeth and exploration. Ravinder Pandita, Head & founder of the committee recently received Govt. Order No 9973-80 dated 31.12.2018 from his department acceding to the request of putting up Sign boards at the Sharda Peeth for maintaining sanctity of the temple. Sharda Peeth is currently been guarded by BM5-AK Brigade of Pak army and the DG in his circular has on the request of SSCK directed concerned DC , SSP, AD Tourism amongst others to implement the order. In the recent past a railing has also been erected replacing the traditional rope on stairs leading to the peeth. “ We have requested DG Archaeology to mark the boundaries of Sharda Peeth and take steps to preserve the peeth from encroachments and deforestation leading to soil erosion” Ravinder Pandita said in a press release today.
Save Sharda committee Kashmir has developed People to people contact across LOC and is pressing hard for reopening of the pilgrimage as well exploring Sharda -the oldest Civilization. It has also approached ISRO for satellite imagery to know the extent of the civilization and a lot has been achieved through the satellite imagery and much needs to be done on ground through GPRA methods & technology, said Pandita. The Committee has already written with reminder representations to Hon’ble PM , HM and EAM regarding the reopening of the pilgrimage particularly in the wake of Kartarpur Corridor reopening. Sharda Peeth reopening came up in Parliament also last month Rajya Sabha Question No : 1128 answered on 20th. December by Gen. V K Singh MoS External affairs. The committee’s demands have been supported by many regional parties including PDP led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti, NC led by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Pradesh Congress led by G.H. Mir and recently the issue was raised by Dr. Farooq Abdullah too in Parliament.
Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) is a pressure group working on the re-opening of the pilgrimage and its preservation and supports Cross LoC religious & Heritage tourism.
