Delhi High Court is likely to deliver its verdict today on Special CBI Director Rakesh Asthana’s plea seeking quashing of the FIR against him. On December 20, 2018, Justice Najmi Waziri reserved the order on Mr Asthana and suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devender Kumar’s pleas seeking quashing of FIRs against them. Mr Asthana has said the cases were registered against them in an illegal manner with mala fide intention.
Asthana, a 1984-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, is accused of accepting a bribe of 2 crore rupees from a businessman who was being probed in the Qureshi case. The case was being examined by a special investigation team headed by Mr Asthana.
