The ban on Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has been embraced by Kashmiri Pandits and Indians around the globe. Through a communication with Epilogue, Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) which has been at the forefront of the fight for recognition of Pandit genocide, founder member, Rakesh Kaul, welcomed the statement of India’s Home secretary which gives official recognition to the genocide and purging of the Kashmiri Pandits from their homeland. What was especially gratifying is that this follows the recent, very successful, Houston Rally led by Dr. Surinder Kaul, founder member, GKPD wherein Pakistan’s dastardly role in the genocide was exposed fully in front of worldwide media.
Rakesh Kaul said, ‘Today, the Kashmiri Pandits have proven to be triumphant in that the sword of their truth has prevailed over the sword of violence. Kashmiri Pandits have been steadfast in their truth, Satyamev Jayte, even in the face of an extremely hostile State administration and a complicit establishment. Truth is what lasts. Truth is what works. Truth is what leads us to a better future.Today; let the jaikara of Kashmir SatyamevJayte ring through all of India.’
According to Kaul the victory today was achieved because of the sacrifices and hard work of the entire Kashmiri Pandit community. It culminated in the trailblazing Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora Memorandum of Understanding which articulated that the number one demand of the KP community was to recognize Kashmiri Pandit genocide. GKPD is a joint initiative of all displaced Kashmiri Pandit organizations at the national and international level. The GKPD MOU was presented to Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh ji in September 2018.
Rakesh Kaul continued, ’We thank Shri Rajnath ji and his Secretary, the highest officer in India responsible for internal security, for giving our trauma official recognition. We celebrate the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has recognized that the militant movement in Kashmir is not about liberation, not about economic suffering, not about justice but a theofascist movement which has brought great suffering to the land and its people. Prime Minister Modi has gotten real with Pakistan and with their genocidaires in Kashmir and we salute him for accepting our long-standing demand.’
The Home Ministry’s announcement also finishes off forever the great game of Kashmir that it pays to oppose India. In fact, it has paid off very handsomely to such practitioners so far but now the jig is up. Instead, it gives support and endorses those right thinking Kashmiri Muslims who have dared to speak the truth. For example, at the GKPD Conclave Right the Wrong held on February 23, 2019 while addressing a direct question by Dr Surinder Kaul to Member of Parliament Mr. Muzzafar Beg’s opinion regarding genocide and ethnic cleansing of the community and if it comes under the purview of genocide and if KP community qualifies for genocide as per Rome statue, Mr Baig very empathetically said, “It does, you certainly qualify, I think there should not be any questions about that.”
Rakesh Kaul continued, ‘The Kashmiri Pandit community will not compromise and will remain steadfast in the pursuit of Justice. We are marching forward under the leadership of Dr. K. L. Chowdhury jiand under coordination of Veer Khar from New Zealand with our presentation to the United Nations seeking redressal for our Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing. India is a signatory to the UN Genocide Convention. We remain confident that our faith in Prime Minister Modi will be requited and that he will deliver justice to us. Furthermore, that Pakistan and JKLF and all other organizations aiding, and abetting Kashmiri Pandit genocide be held fully accountable.’
Dr. Surinder Kaul concluded definitively, ‘A major announcement on further proactive steps that GKPD will take will be forthcoming shortly. We will partner with all stakeholders in Kashmir and Government of India so that the Kashmiri Pandit demand that the community be declared as Internally Displaced Persons becomes real and that all reliefs as laid down in the United Nations guiding principles be applied to them.’
