Kashmiri Samiti Delhi (Regd.) after conducting a massive protest rally on Kashmiri Hindu Holocaust Day on 19th January, Tuesday received an invitation from the office of Lt Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for a meeting. Acting on war footing a team from KSD under the leadership of its president Sh.Sumeer Chrungoo, vice presidents Sh.Sanjay Koul, Sh.Vijay Bhat & executive member Sh.Rattan Lal Koul who by chance was in Jammu met the Lt Governor on next day on Wednesday 22 nd January at Raj Bhawan, Jammu.
In a press statement issued here today, KSD delegation congratulated newly appointed Lt. Governor of UT (J&K) Sh.G.C.Murmu and presented a bouquet of flowers for becoming first Lt.Governor of newly declared UT of Jammu & Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370/35A.
KSD statement further said, “Lt. Governor as we could analyze was eager to know the point of view of KSD over various matters impacting the community and return and rehabilitation of community to Kashmir.
The KSD delegation presented its point of view over short term and long term mechanism of offering sense of justice to the community which has suffered Genocide in Kashmir. As a short term mechanism KSD team called upon the governor for:
“# Enhancement of cash relief and removing all discrepancies which are prevalent in relief disbursement mechanism to displaced Kashmiri Hindus living across India.
# Re opening of Registration process for those displaced Kashmiri Hindus who could not register attributing to various reasons.
# Compensation to Over aged youth and Traders who have suffered immensely attributed to forced exodus from Kashmir.
# Job opportunities for unemployed youth of the displaced community.”
KSD while discussing the permanent return and rehabilitation of the displaced community has categorically stated that the process must encompass certain cardinals considering the community has suffered Genocide. The KSD team conveyed to Lt Governor,
“# Justice to the victims of Genocide should form the basis of any return module.
# Return must ensure the life of dignity and honor in Kashmir considering the displacement in 1990 was a man made disaster.
# Considering the historical factors it is pertinent that return must ensure the cardinal principle of non refoulement to ensure events like 1990 are not repeated.
# KSD is committed to Separate Homeland with a Union Territory status which is the demand and general sentiment in community. KSD apprised the Lt Governor of this demand”
According to statement, “Sh G C Murmu gave a patient hearing to KSD Team and ensured that he will communicate the demands to the Union government. He expressed empathy with the displaced community and assured the delegation that the issues being faced by the community are on top priority of his government.”
