Three militants were killed in an ongoing encounter that started between forces and militants at Ban Toll Plaza in Udhampur district in wee hours.
The gunfight raged after a group of militants travelling in a truck bearing no JK03F 1478, were intercepted at ban toll plaza along highway in Jammu region’s Udhampur district around 5 am. After initial gun fire, the militants ran towards adjoining hills. A police man was also injured in the gun fight was immediately sifted to hospital.
Director General of Police Dilbag Singh while briefing the media said that police has seized weapons seven AK 47 rifles in this encounter and three neutralized militants belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad have been killed,
He said, “One terrorist was killed in the morning and two others have been neutralized in the adjoining forest area” adding, “Four to five terrorists were believed to be in the truck. It is suspected that they might have infiltrated from Hiranagar sector in Kathua district,”
He said that Truck driver and conductor have been arrested and questioning is underway with truck driver and conductor.
According to our sources the weapons recovered include American colt M4 Carbine with thermal sight, two soviet origin Ak-74, & iCom Radio besides grenades among the recovered items from three militants killed in Nagrota encounter.
The security agencies are apprehensive of presence of more militants in the area. The Cordon and Search Operation CASO is still on.
