J&K unit of BJP has come out with an official statement condemning the uncalled and unsavory outburst of its member Ashwani Chrungoo in one of the televised debates aired on 09 July by a news channel in Jammu.
Ashwani Chrungoo one of the participants in the debate which hosted two other members from Jagati Township as well made certain unpalatable and disreputable remarks against the other panelists. BJP member lost cool in this debate and questioned the host of the program about the credentials of the other panelists and their unworthiness to share the stage with him. The foul words further used by the BJP member were unbecoming and pedestrian to an extent that entire Kashmiri Pandit community got a bolt from the blue. Condemnation poured in through a spontaneous reaction from the community across the globe and social media was abuzz with the vilifying remarks of the BJP member.
Taking note of the spontaneous and widespread condemnation of Ashwani Chringoo’s disparaging remarks BJP unit of J&K came out with an official statement condemning the behavior exhibited by the concerned BJP leader. In a statement issued by J&K BJP senior Vice-President Dr. Narinder Singh BJP distanced itself from these unsavory remarks and behavior exhibited by Ashwani Chrungoo in the debate on 09 July in the debate.
In an official handout he said, “We must mind words while projecting our views, howsoever we may differ in our views with each other; stressed that the views expressed or the gesture presented by the party leader Ashwani Chrungoo are his own. He further said that he (Chrungoo) does not represent the party as official spokesperson.
Dr. Narinder Singh further said that the whatsoever remarks made by both the panelists during the time of the heated debate are representation of their fit of anger or rage and at that point of time the spontaneous response and words used by Ashwani Chrungoo to the other respective panelist is limited to him only.
Rakesh Handu , founder J&K National Unity Front, who had fought election from Hazratbal Constituency against NC supremo Dr Farooq Abdullah in 2008 has initiated an online campaign against the deplorable behavior of Ashwani Chrungoo on social media while talking to Epilogue said, “The derogatory words used by Ashwani .Chrungoo against a Jagati camp dweller should invoke much stringent reprimand.” He added, “BJP being a party of ethics should have ideally expelled Ashwani Chrungoo from the primary membership of the party, the continuation of Ashwani Chrungoo in BJP speaks volumes about lackadaisical and uncaring response to such irresponsible behavior. “
