1,463 of allotted PSA Oxygen plants commissioned, says Health Ministry

Government has sanctioned more than one thousand 500 Pressure Swing Adsorption, PSA oxygen generation plants of which one thousand 463 have been commissioned. Inaugurating the National Oxygen Stewardship Program in New Delhi, Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharati Pawar said, one thousand 225 PSA plants have been installed and commissioned under PM-CARES Fund in every district of the country.

She said, States have also been asked to install PSA plants in public health facilities and facilitate installation of PSA plants in private health facilities.

The Minister said, Oxygen Stewardship Program aims to empower all healthcare workers engaged in Oxygen management and administration. This program to provide the essential knowledge and skills to ensure rational utilization and avoid any wastage of medical Oxygen.

It envisages to identify and train at least one Oxygen Steward in each district across the country. These trained professionals will be responsible for leading the training on Oxygen therapy and management in their respective districts.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan noted that the Covid-19 pandemic not only accelerated the demand for medical oxygen but also the need for its timely delivery. He said, Government has supported the states in setting up and strengthening oxygen production and delivery mechanisms.
