Union Minister for Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Piyush Goyal today said that there can be no better example than the Indian Pharma industry which has demonstrated the greatest positivity in adversity during the last two years of significant global crisis.
He was addressing the valedictory session of the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA’s) diamond jubilee programme in Mumbai. He said sixty years is a great time to both celebrate and reflect on the achievements and also see where we are going to go from here.
While praising the IDMA’s achievements the minister said IDMA have become the voice of Indian pharma industry and they are co-ordinating with the government and they are continuously engaging with international bodies.
He commended the Indian Pharma industry for supplying the most important drugs to more than 200 countries during the Covid crisis. With this India has given the message that not only we are becoming superpower in the pharma sector but we are also a sensitive country which believes in Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam.
He expressed confidence that the way India tackled this global crisis it can be said that India is becoming Atma Nirbhar in drug manufacturing sector.
At the same time he cautioned the Indian industry to remain vigilant in view of the unpredictability of the global supply chain. He appealed the industry players to identify the backward and forward linkages to enforce the supply chain in the country.
