Mary Kom wins record sixth gold medal in Women’s World Boxing C’ships

India’s MC Mary Kom wins record sixth gold medal in Women’s World Boxing Championships.

In a unanimous 5-0 decision in New Delhi on Saturday, Mary Kom beat Hanna Okhota of Ukraine in 48 kilogram light flyweight category.

Mary Com had previously won the gold medal in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 editions of the Championships. Apart from this, she had also won the silver medal on her debut in 2001.

In the women’s 57-kilogram featherweight final, Sonia will face Ornella Gabriele Wahner of Germany later this evening. Sonia entered the final after beating Jo Son Hwa of North Korea by unanimous 5-0 decision yesterday.
