SP members protest at Vidhan Bhavan ahead of Budget session

(ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) members, including legislators, staged a protest against the “anti-people” BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government at the Vidhan Bhavan premises here on Tuesday ahead of the Budget session.

The SP members alleged that the BJP which is ruling both at the Centre and the state is using central agencies like CBI and ED to target political opponents.

“They are using CBI and ED to target opposition leaders including the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati,” said a Samajwadi Party member. He alleged that the BJP is “afraid” of the SP-BSP alliance in the state and hence is targeting its leaders.

Another SP member said that both the central and state governments have done nothing for the welfare of Uttar Pradesh.

“This is an anti-people government, they have done nothing for the farmers who are committing suicide, they have not given employment to unemployed youth,” he said.

The Budget session will kickstart with the joint sitting of both the Houses–the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council — at 11 am with Governor Ram Naik addressing the joint sitting.

The Chief Minister Adityanath-led BJP government will present the budget for the year 2019-20 on February 7. Subsequently, the discussion on the Budget will take place on four days beginning February 12.

The house will discuss the Governor’s address on February 6- 8 and on February 11.

With an eye on the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the SP and Bahujan Samaj Party allied to pose a formidable threat to the ruling BJP in the state and Centre.

The Budget Session commencing on Tuesday is expected to be stormy.
