Sri Lanka: 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Devji begins in Colombo

In Sri Lanka, the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Devji began with a program organised by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Colombo last evening.

Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu was the chief guest on the occasion.

A large Indian community participated in the program and listened to Gurbani organised by Colombo Gurudwara samiti. The visit of Guru Nanak Devji to Batticaloa in Sri Lanka during 1506 and his contribution to local society was also highlighted.

Colombo Gurudwara Samiti is organizing a three-day program beginning today to mark the anniversary celebrations.

Akhand path and ardas prayers are being organized along with langar seva.
