UK urges US, Europe to ‘go further’ in countering Russia

United Kingdom has urged the US and European countries to do more to call out Kremlin’s malign behaviour and keep Russian President Vladimir Putin in check by implementing tough sanction against it.

Britain’s new Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said, the established rules of international conduct are repeatedly being flouted by major countries like Russia.

London has blamed Moscow for the March poisoning in southwestern England of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

Hunt said, such aggressive and malign behaviour undermines the international order that keeps one safe.

The foreign Secretary said, while engagement with Moscow remains vital, Russia’s foreign policy under Putin has made the world a more dangerous place.

Hunt, who is in the US, is expected to meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo today.
