Security forces on Tuesday apprehended six suspected terror associates in two separate joint operations in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The operations were conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as part of intensified efforts to dismantle terror-support networks in the region.
During the first operation in the Heerpora area, security personnel intercepted a motorcycle during naka checking and detained three individuals. Two hand grenades and incriminating material were recovered from their possession.
In a separate operation in the Imamsahib area, a joint team comprising Shopian Police, 34 Rashtriya Rifles and 178 Battalion CRPF apprehended three more individuals. A hand grenade, two AK-47 magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition and other incriminating material were recovered during the operation.
Separate cases have been registered at the concerned police stations, while further investigation is underway to establish the suspects’ alleged links with terrorist groups and determine their role in supporting terror activities.
Security forces said the operations are part of continued efforts to identify and disrupt networks involved in providing logistical and other support to terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
