A new report has warned that Pakistan-based terrorist organisations are increasingly using digital platforms and social media to recruit and radicalise young people.
According to the report, terror groups are leveraging encrypted messaging applications, social networking sites, and online gaming platforms to spread extremist propaganda, identify potential recruits, and maintain communication with supporters.
The report noted that recruiters often target vulnerable youth by exploiting religious sentiments, misinformation, and personal grievances while promising financial assistance, ideological purpose, or social recognition.
Security agencies have expressed concern over the growing use of sophisticated online techniques, including anonymous accounts and encrypted communication, making it more challenging to detect and disrupt recruitment networks.
The report has recommended stronger cyber surveillance, greater public awareness, enhanced digital literacy, and closer cooperation among governments, technology companies, and law enforcement agencies to counter online radicalisation and prevent terrorist recruitment.
