Srinagar, July 20: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) Kashmir has busted an alleged extortion racket and carried out coordinated raids at multiple locations across Srinagar and Ganderbal districts as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to officials, the action was launched following credible inputs regarding an organized extortion network that had been allegedly intimidating individuals and demanding money through threats and other unlawful means. A case was registered, and investigations led to simultaneous searches at several suspected locations.
During the raids, the Special Crime Wing recovered incriminating material, including documents, electronic devices, and other evidence believed to be linked to the racket. The seized material has been taken into custody for forensic examination and further investigation.
Officials said the searches were conducted in accordance with legal procedures and were aimed at identifying all individuals involved in the extortion network. The investigation is continuing to trace the financial transactions, establish the extent of the racket, and identify additional suspects.
The Special Crime Wing Kashmir reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against organized crime and appealed to the public to report any incidents of extortion, intimidation, or criminal coercion to the police. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
