Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on July 20, 2026, said that hydrogen is driving India’s journey towards a sustainable transport future, highlighting its role in reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Speaking at a national energy forum, the Minister emphasized that hydrogen-based mobility solutions will be central to India’s clean energy transition, supporting both public and private transport systems.
He noted that pilot projects on hydrogen fuel cell buses and trucks are already underway, with plans to expand infrastructure for production, storage, and distribution across major cities.
Joshi underlined that hydrogen adoption will not only cut pollution but also strengthen India’s energy security, aligning with the government’s vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
The Minister added that collaboration between industry, research institutions, and government agencies is vital to accelerate innovation and make hydrogen transport affordable and scalable.
