Jammu, Feb 9: Police have attached property worth ₹50 lakh in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The action was taken as part of intensified measures to curb drug trafficking and dismantle financial networks linked to narcotics trade.
Officials stated that the property belonged to an accused who is facing trial under the NDPS Act. The attachment was carried out under the provisions of the law that empower authorities to seize assets acquired through proceeds of crime.
The police emphasized that the move is aimed at striking at the economic roots of drug trafficking, ensuring that individuals involved in the illegal trade are deprived of financial gains. The attachment order was executed after due legal process and approval from the competent authority.
Authorities further noted that such actions are part of a broader crackdown on narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir, where law enforcement agencies have intensified surveillance, enforcement, and awareness campaigns to combat the menace of drugs.
Police reiterated their commitment to continue targeting both the supply chain and financial assets of those involved in drug trafficking, stressing that strict enforcement under the NDPS Act will remain a priority to safeguard youth and society from the growing threat of narcotics.
