The Narcotics Control Bureau has busted a cross-border heroin trafficking cartel operating in Jammu, seizing 5.16 kilograms of heroin and arresting three people, including the alleged mastermind of the network.
The operation was carried out by the NCB Jammu Zonal Unit as part of its efforts to dismantle organised drug-trafficking networks with cross-border links. The seized heroin was found to be part of a larger trafficking operation involving the movement of narcotics into the region.
Investigators are now probing the wider network, including the source of the contraband, its intended recipients and other individuals involved in the trafficking chain. The arrests are expected to help investigators uncover the network’s cross-border connections and financial links.
The NCB has intensified action against drug-trafficking syndicates operating along Jammu and Kashmir’s border areas, with a focus on disrupting supply chains and identifying handlers involved in the movement of narcotics.
The latest seizure highlights the continuing challenge posed by cross-border drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir and the agencies’ efforts to prevent narcotics from entering the region.
