The government has reiterated its commitment to equipping and preparing India’s youth with the skills and opportunities needed to help achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The focus remains on strengthening skill development, vocational training, apprenticeships and employment-oriented education so that young people can meet the changing requirements of the economy. The government has emphasised the need to bridge the gap between education and industry and ensure that training programmes remain relevant to emerging job opportunities.
Greater emphasis is also being placed on new-age skills, including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, automation and other areas expected to shape the future workforce. Efforts are being made to expand access to training and provide young people with opportunities to improve their employability.
The government has said that India’s large youth population can become a major strength in the country’s development journey if young people are given the right skills, education and opportunities. Youth participation is therefore being positioned as an important part of the Viksit Bharat vision.
With 2047 set as the target for a developed India, the government has stressed that sustained investment in human capital, skill development and employment will be essential to achieving the long-term national goal.
