Two Indian nationals have been arrested in Sri Lanka for allegedly attempting to smuggle Chinese-made cigarettes into the country. The arrests were made by Sri Lankan authorities during an operation targeting the illegal movement of tobacco products.
Officials intercepted the two men and recovered a consignment of cigarettes believed to have been brought into Sri Lanka without the required customs clearance. The seized products were identified as Chinese-made cigarettes.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling, including the source of the cigarettes and their intended destination. Further questioning is also expected to determine whether the suspects were part of a larger smuggling network.
