New Delhi, October 28: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Wednesday called for closer ties between start-ups and industry, saying government support should help Indian innovations reach customers and find wider commercial use.
Visiting the exhibition at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Singh reviewed technologies developed by start-ups and research institutions. The three-day event, running from October 27 to 29, features 50 selected deep-tech start-ups, 13 departmental stalls and 10 departmental technologies.
Singh said the growing innovation ecosystem offered entrepreneurs opportunities to connect with businesses, develop practical applications and expand production. He encouraged industry representatives and other potential partners to work with technology developers.
Exhibits included CSIR Designer Rice, a high-protein, low-glycaemic-index product developed by the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology. Another display featured JEET, a microcontroller developed by Signalchip, with potential uses in robotics, connected devices and industrial automation.
Bio-based packaging and other materials were also on display. Singh urged businesses, investors and research institutions to help promising technologies reach larger markets, saying stronger cooperation could turn research into useful products and strengthen domestic capabilities.
