Beijing, October 24: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit Zadoi County in China’s northwestern Qinghai province on Saturday afternoon.
The China Earthquake Networks Centre recorded the tremor at 4:39 pm Beijing time, with its focus 10 kilometres below the surface. The epicentre was located at 32.54 degrees north latitude and 93.97 degrees east longitude.
No casualties or damage were immediately reported following the quake.
The tremor came as rescue teams continued relief work in neighbouring Tibet, where a magnitude-7.0 earthquake two days earlier killed 16 people and injured 76. More than 12,000 residents were evacuated from areas affected by that disaster.
