New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Indian athletes for their medal-winning performances at the 2026 Asian Games, praising their efforts across several sporting disciplines.
In a series of messages, Modi congratulated members of the Indian men’s cricket team after they retained the Asian Games gold medal by defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final. He described the victory as a joyous occasion and extended his best wishes to the players.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Kumkum Anil Mohod after she became the first Indian woman to win the individual recurve gold medal at the Asian Games. He praised her composure during the decisive shoot-off and wished her continued success.
Modi extended his greetings to Pranavi Sharath Urs, who won India’s first-ever gold medal in the women’s individual golf event at the Asian Games. He said her performance had created a memorable moment for Indian sport.
He also praised other Indian athletes who have secured medals during the Games, highlighting the hard work and determination behind their performances.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had congratulated Indian athletes in events including archery, sailing, athletics, squash and other disciplines as India continued to add medals to its tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
The latest congratulations come as India continues its campaign at the Asian Games, with athletes competing across a wide range of events. As of October 3, India had secured 80 medals, including 18 gold, 26 silver and 36 bronze, according to reported medal standings.
Modi has consistently used his messages to recognise individual athletes and teams for their performances and wish them success in their upcoming competitions.
