The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday conducted searches at six locations across the Kashmir Valley in connection with an alleged terror recruitment case, officials said.
The searches were carried out at residential premises in Budgam and Srinagar, besides Bijbehara and Mattan areas of Anantnag district and a village in Pulwama district.
Officials said the search operations were conducted in coordination with local police and revenue authorities in the presence of executive magistrates.
The case is registered under FIR No. 07/2023 at Police Station CIK Srinagar and relates to an alleged terror recruitment network that was reportedly using social media platforms to radicalise young people and recruit them into banned terrorist organisations.
According to officials, the investigation was initiated following inputs that Pakistan-based individuals, allegedly working in coordination with handlers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other proscribed outfits, were using online platforms to influence Kashmiri youth and draw them towards terrorist activities.
The alleged network was also suspected of attempting to instigate young people against the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The latest searches are part of the ongoing investigation aimed at identifying individuals allegedly associated with the recruitment network and establishing the extent of its activities.
Further details regarding any recoveries or detentions during Friday’s searches were awaited, officials said.
