New Delhi, November 5: Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has accused the Punjab government of misleading people about stubble burning, alleging that smoke from farm fires contributed to deteriorating air quality in Delhi.
Sirsa questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s remarks on paddy harvesting and said official figures contradicted them. He also alleged that farmers had not been given adequate alternatives for managing crop residue.
The minister said winds were carrying smoke towards Delhi and urged neighbouring residents to cooperate with pollution-control restrictions. The Aam Aadmi Party had not immediately responded to his allegations, according to the report.
