Srinagar, October 22: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called for collective efforts to strengthen peace, unity and security in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the courage of police personnel who died in service should guide that commitment.
Paying tribute on Police Commemoration Day on Wednesday, Sinha remembered the sacrifices of fallen personnel and expressed solidarity with their families. He said honouring their memory required continued work to protect society and preserve peace.
The Lieutenant Governor said no assistance could make up for the loss of a loved one, but the government remained responsible for supporting bereaved families. He assured the police community that efforts would continue to safeguard their welfare and dignity.
He also praised the Jammu and Kashmir Police for its courage in confronting terrorism and protecting the public under difficult circumstances, saying its service had earned respect across the country.
Sinha urged citizens to preserve communal harmony and mutual trust. He also called for greater attention to the safety of women, children and vulnerable people, alongside firm action against drug trafficking and narco-terror
