Washington, October 22: US President Donald Trump has said American action stopped Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, calling it one of his administration’s biggest achievements.
Trump said the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran was the reason Washington took military action against Tehran. He claimed Iran would otherwise have developed nuclear weapons and already used them. These assertions reflect the President’s assessment.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticised the United States for withdrawing from the nuclear agreement, saying the decision lacked justification. He also said Iran’s military readiness helped deter further American action.
The remarks come as tensions continue between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear programme and the wider conflict in the region.
