Abu Dhabi: UAE authorities have asked people to avoid spreading unverified claims about the recent Flydubai flight incident, saying the investigation is still underway and officials will release information when it has been confirmed.
The incident involved Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The aircraft was diverted to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely after an emergency situation on board.
The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority said investigators are looking into what happened during the flight and are working with the relevant authorities. Officials have also cautioned against drawing conclusions from information circulating on social media or other unofficial sources.
Authorities said some details cannot be disclosed while the investigation is in progress, as doing so could interfere with the process. The UAE Public Prosecution has formed a team to examine the incident following a directive from the Attorney-General.
The investigation is expected to establish what led to the incident, the sequence of events on board and the circumstances surrounding the actions of those involved. Officials have not announced any final conclusions about the motive.
Meanwhile, Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar has received praise for his handling of the emergency. The aviation authority commended the pilot, cabin crew and passengers for their response during a difficult situation.
Machchhar was injured during the incident but was later brought to safety. Officials said he returned to the UAE and was receiving medical care.
The aircraft was ultimately able to land safely in Tabuk, allowing passengers and crew to disembark. The incident has since attracted considerable attention in India and the UAE, particularly because of the circumstances reported on board the aircraft.
Officials have stressed that the investigation must be allowed to run its course before firm conclusions are drawn. Any confirmed findings or further developments will be shared through official channels, authorities said.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet issued a final account of what happened or established a definitive motive.
