<p><strong>Jammu:</strong> The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) demolished 17 shops in the Satwari area during an anti-encroachment drive, leaving affected traders seeking rehabilitation and assistance from the authorities.</p>
<p>The demolition was carried out as part of measures related to highway development and removal of structures falling within the required road corridor. Officials and enforcement personnel were present during the drive as the identified structures were removed.</p>
<p>The affected traders expressed disappointment over the action and said the demolition had disrupted their businesses and livelihoods. They urged the administration to consider their situation and provide suitable rehabilitation or alternative arrangements.</p>
<p>The traders said that many families depended on the businesses operating from the demolished shops and that the sudden loss of their establishments had created financial difficulties. They appealed to the authorities to look into their demands on humanitarian grounds.</p>
