Earthquake Hits Uttarakhand’s Chamoli, Tremors Reach Delhi-NCR
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Chamoli district in Uttarakhand late on Tuesday, October 6. The tremors were felt in several towns across the state and in parts of Delhi-NCR.
The National Centre for Seismology recorded the earthquake at 10:23 p.m. Its epicentre was in Chamoli, at a depth of 13 kilometres.
Residents in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Rudraprayag reported feeling the shaking. Tremors were also felt in Haldwani, Rishikesh, Gopeshwar and Badrinath, while people in Delhi and nearby NCR areas reported brief movement.
Initial reports indicated no casualties or damage.
