New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met GSMA Board members at Seva Teerth on Tuesday, October 6, ahead of the India Mobile Congress. Discussions covered access to digital services, cyber fraud and concerns over AI-generated content.
Modi said technology should reach people in underserved areas. He stressed the need for affordable digital services, particularly in developing countries, so that more communities can benefit from them.
The Prime Minister highlighted the role digital public infrastructure could play in the Global South. He noted that the subject had featured in his discussions with several world leaders.
Cyber fraud was another concern raised during the meeting. Modi called for technology-based solutions and regular awareness messages to help people recognise fraudulent calls.
On deepfakes and AI-generated material, he suggested finding ways to help users identify the origin of such content. He also emphasised the need for shared international standards for emerging technologies.
GSMA Board members praised India’s expanding mobile connectivity, digital public infrastructure and telecom manufacturing sector. They stressed that secure and reliable networks would be essential to further growth.
Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar and senior officials also attended.
