India and Saudi Arabia have reviewed their growing partnership, with discussions covering defence, trade, investment, energy and technology, along with healthcare and education.
The issues came up during a meeting between Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Aljadaan on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s annual meeting in Doha.
The two sides discussed the expanding economic relationship and ways to create more opportunities for businesses and investors. Sitharaman described Saudi Arabia as an important partner for India, while both sides looked at areas where cooperation could be expanded.
Investment was one of the key subjects discussed. India and Saudi Arabia have completed negotiations for a Bilateral Investment Treaty, which is aimed at providing a clearer framework for investors from both countries.
Saudi Arabia is seeking greater investment from Indian companies as it works to diversify its economy. India, meanwhile, continues to view Saudi Arabia as an important economic partner and a major source of energy supplies.
