Srinagar, November 5: National Conference legislators unhappy with the recent cabinet reshuffle and expansion are expected to meet again on Thursday evening to coordinate their position before talks with the party leadership on Friday morning.
The gathering is likely to take place at MLA Mubarak Gul’s residence, sources said. It would be the group’s fourth meeting in seven days, following discussions that began on October 30.
The legislators have submitted a memorandum seeking changes to the Cabinet. Their demands include reviewing ministers’ performance after two years in office and replacing those they consider ineffective.
They have also sought the withdrawal of the Roads and Buildings portfolio from Surinder Choudhary. According to the report, more than 20 legislators had criticised his handling of the department during the June 3 meeting at Dachigam.
Another demand concerns the removal of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s adviser, Nasir Aslam Wani.
Thursday’s proposed discussions are expected to help the group agree on a common approach for presenting these grievances. Friday’s talks will give the party leadership an opportunity to address the demands and attempt to resolve the internal differences.
