Jammu, October 24: The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Jammu has filed chargesheets against 50 people following an investigation into the alleged illegal stay of Pakistani nationals across four districts. Investigators also recorded the alleged involvement of 15 others who died before the chargesheets were submitted, an agency spokesperson said on Saturday.
The investigation covered eight incidents, with chargesheets presented before courts in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri and Kathua.
According to the spokesperson, the inquiry began after information suggested that some Pakistani nationals, including people from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, had remained in India unlawfully after entering on valid travel documents from the late 1970s onwards.
Investigators alleged that Indian identity documents were obtained by concealing foreign nationality. Some individuals allegedly used forged documents to secure government employment.
A Special Investigation Team traced families living in Akhnoor, Mendhar, Thannamandi, Darhal and Kathua. Indian spouses, relatives and others accused of helping obtain the documents were also chargesheeted, the spokesperson said.
